Dirac Release DIRAC08 Site Licence Agreement

Dirac is an experimental code for the calculation of relativistic molecular properties.

A site licence for Dirac Release DIRAC08 means that the site may install and make generally available the executable, scripts, utility programs, basis sets and the manual of the Dirac program subject to the terms given below. This agreement applies to all revisions of Release DIRAC08, that is, all versions denoted by Dirac Release DIRAC08.x, where x is the revision number. In the following all references to Dirac refer to all parts of Dirac Release DIRAC08, that is, all files in the distribution as well as generated object files and executables.

In order to obtain and make available Dirac Release DIRAC08, the site is required to agree to the following terms:

  1. Copyright for the source code and the documentation rests with the authors (listed under item 4) and is not being placed in the public domain.
    1. The site is required to make sure that only the Dirac executable(s), shell scripts, utility programs, basis sets and the documentation (in postscript and html format) are available to users at the site. The source and object files of the program must be properly protected in order to prevent users from accessing them.
    2. When the site stop using a computer, proper actions will be taken to make sure that all Dirac files, including object files and executables, are deleted on that computer.
    3. All copies of Dirac will be deleted when it has ended its useful life.
    4. Changes in the source code are only to be made in order to make the code compile and perform correctly on the site, as well as to upgrade the code through patches supplied from the authors.
    5. The Dirac source code may not, in whole or in part, be included in any program code you distribute to other users, whether they have a Dirac licence or not, without the specific written consent of the Dirac authors or their representatives.
  2. This code is provided only for research activities whose primary results are destined for publication in the open literature. Results obtained with the code may not be used for proprietary purposes, and no fee may be charged for the use of the program or any part of the program. If the site is also accessed by commercial users, they are to be informed about this.
  3. Users are to be informed that the experimental nature of this program means that there is no warranty of correctness of results nor fitness for a particular purpose and that the authors of Dirac cannot be held responsible in any way for any consequences arising from the use of the program. While every attempt will be made to correct any errors reported to the Dirac administrator e-mail address (see http://dirac.chem.sdu.dk), the authors of Dirac are not obliged to make such corrections, nor is there any support for users implied by making the program available.
  4. The users must be informed that any published work arising from use of the Dirac program must acknowledge the program with an appropriate citation. A suitable text for release DIRAC08 revision 0 would be:
    "Dirac, a relativistic ab initio electronic structure program, Release DIRAC08 (2008)", written by L. Visscher, H. J. Aa. Jensen, and T. Saue, with new contributions from R. Bast, S. Dubillard, K. G. Dyall, U. Ekström, E. Eliav, T. Fleig, A. S. P. Gomes, T. U. Helgaker, J. Henriksson, M. Ilias, Ch. R. Jacob, S. Knecht, P. Norman, J. Olsen, M. Pernpointner, K. Ruud, P. Salek, and J. Sikkema (see http://dirac.chem.sdu.dk)
On behalf of the site mentioned below, I have read and agree to the terms for the use of the Dirac program and I will ensure that the terms stated above is being adhered to. I declare that I am authorized to represent the site in this respect. If this authorization expires I will either delete everything as specified in section 1.b or transfer the responsibility for this licence to another person by contacting dirac-admin@dirac.chem.sdu.dk

The authors will not provide a "help line" for usage problems. We do provide an e-mail list with address dirac@dirac.chem.sdu.dk for exchange of experiences between users of Dirac and for questions about input etc. We hope that the users will help each other. Old contributions will be available on http://dirac.chem.sdu.dk. Revisions to Dirac will also be announced on this e-mail list. Subscription (for anyone) is also possible at the Dirac Web-site.
